Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship Hits Record Registration Numbers

Nearly 1000 players from 30 countries have completed their registrations since February

Jiu-jitsu practitioners from around the world are signing up in record numbers for the 14th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, one of the greatest events on the international sports calendar, that will take place at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City from November 11–19.

Since registrations started in February, the competition has seen a high demand from world champions to participate in all categories. The tournament’s rapidly expanding global presence is demonstrated by nearly 1000 players from 30 nations who have registered in the various categories.

Registration for the ADWPJJC is open until November, giving participants the chance to sign up, start preparing, and step up their training leading up to the event's launch date. This will ensure that participants can showcase their talents and skills in front of Abu Dhabi’s engaging audience.

His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice-President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship continues to consolidate its position at the forefront of the global events of the game. It has become a global festival that welcomes the world's champions to the Capital of Jiu-Jitsu every year.

“Following the conclusion of the 13th edition, we immediately began planning for the next championship. Last year, we held two editions of the event and welcomed more than 6000 participants despite all the pandemic-related challenges. Abu Dhabi served as an example on how to organise events in trying conditions. The competition in November will also mark a remarkable experience for global jiu-jitsu stars,” he added.

The activities of the 14th edition of the championship will start on November 11, starting with the Abu Dhabi World Festival Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2022, which lasts for two days and includes competitions for Kids, Infant, Junior, Teen & Youth categories (for the white belts campaign); Amateurs (for white and blue belts); and ParaJiu-Jitsu (for adults).

Abu Dhabi World Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2022 will be held on November 13 and 14 and will witness the participation of athletes aged 10-17 years from all over the world, while the Abu Dhabi World Masters Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2022 will be held on 15 and 16 November and bring together an elite group of international stars over the age of 30.

The highly anticipated Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2022 will take place from 17-19 November, where professionals aged above 18 and holding a purple, brown or black belt will have the opportunity to participate and win the title in their categories.
