Virgil Abloh, the iconic fashion designer who passed away last November, was honored by Mercedes-Benz by launching the Project Maybach. Abloh and Mercedes' chief design officer Gorden Wagener worked together on this off-road luxury coupe concept. Now, the German luxury brand has unveiled what it calls the "final chapter" of Abloh and Wagener's partnership— the 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S680 by Virgil Abloh.
The following is everything you want to know about this limited-edition car:
1- Only 150 units!
While Project Maybach was a concept car with a very extravagant design, the new Maybach by Virgil Abloh is a production model that will be sold in some markets around the world when it arrives later this year. Only 150 units are expected to be produced!
2- Highly-customized Mercedes-Maybach S680
As a highly customized Mercedes-Maybach S680, the Maybach by Virgil Abloh features a unique two-tone paint job: a main beige color and a contrasting Obsidian Black upper section, along with a bespoke infotainment system.
3- 6.0-liter V12 engine
Unlike the Project Maybach, the limited-edition Mercedes S-Class is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 petrol engine delivering 604 hp and is capable of propelling the luxury limousine from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.
4- 1/18 scale replica!
Besides the luxury vehicle, potential customers will also get a 1/18 scale replica inside a custom-made wooden box wrapped in beige Nappa leather, along with a special car cover bearing the Maybach and Abloh logos.
